Such great pictures and memories. I played little league between 1961to 1966. Do you have any pictures from that time period.

    • SP Small Fry says:

Hi Tyler, thanks for the nice comments. We do have additional pictures to post, but unfortunately pictures from this era are hard to come by. We are hopeful that some of our fellow South Plainfielders will contribute some photos for our site, and will put them up as we get them. We’ll be putting some more of our own up also as we go. I haven’t run across any of you though sorry to say!

My wife and I have enjoyed viewing the South Plainfield Small Fry website. Thank you for your work on the history of the League.

I played for 7 years, including on the 1960 Pony League Cardinals, and am in the 1960 team photo. My brother Paul is also in the photo. Our team won 2 consecutive League championships. The manager was my late father, Paul Bogden; Dad looks great in the team photo. Sadly, several friends/team members in the photo, Steve BenAry and Frank Schaffter, died at relatively young ages. On many game days, Steve, Frank, and I would change from our SPHS freshman or junior varsity uniforms to our Cardinal uniforms while being driven to Pitt Field, sometimes arriving after our Cardinal’s game had started.

Thanks John! You were a few years ahead of me but I certainly remember all the Bogdens. Sorry to hear about Steve and Frank, but I’m glad you enjoyed the site. We’re still hoping to add some more video and stuff as time permits. On the off chance that you have any pictures from your playing days that you’ like to share, feel free to contact us through the “making contact” link at the top of the page.
